Catalina Island Mermaid Photoshoots

Catalina Island Mermaid Underwater Photoshoots

Dive into an enchanting underwater world and become a real-life mermaid on the beautiful Island of Catalina! Kick back and relax as you’re outfitted in a stunning custom mermaid tail and guided through basic mermaid swimming techniques by an experienced PADI instructor. Then, get ready for the photoshoot of a lifetime as you gracefully glide through the crystal clear waters, capturing breathtaking images that will make all your mermaid dreams come true.
Catalina Island Mermaids & Mimosas
Mermaids and Mer-mosas is a half-day, luxury, mermaid photoshoot experience in Avalon for groups of up to six. Included is:
- Mermaid Tails
- Mermaid Photographer
- Complimentary Mimosa or Mock-tail
- One Professionally Edited Photo Each
- Online Gallery with all of the photos, as well as your edits.
Meet your photographer at the “Via Casino” Archway, next to step beach at 9AM. Pick out your mermaid tail before venturing off to one of Avalon’s beautiful beaches to do a mermaid photoshoot! All location options are within a 1-10 minute walk from our meet-up point, “Via Casino” Archway. It’s recommended to wear leggings or board shorts under the mermaid tail (less bulky the better) and comfortable walking/beach shoes or sandals.
Our favorite photoshoot location is Middle Beach, which features soft sand with Harbor and Casino background features for photos. Middle Beach is highly accessible and is just a short walk from our meet up spot. We also like to do photoshoots at Descanso Beach, this location is very rocky and rugged with a more natural feel, and sometimes has a patch of sand. Descanso beach is a 15 minute walk from out meet-up point. Other options include Step Beach, or Casino Point Dive Park.
Photoshoots will include both group photos, as well as solo mermaid portraits for each mermaid. We suggest starting with the group photos, followed by solo mermaid portraits so that Mermaids can remove their tails after their portraits are complete and can enjoy the beach, or taking behind the scenes photos and videos. You won’t be entering the water during your photoshoot, but might get splashed, and will likely get sandy. The normal time frame to be on the beach taking photos is about 1-1.5 hour(s), but there is no time limit. Your photographer will enjoy taking photos with you in as many poses as you like, until you both feel like you “got the shot”.
After the photoshoot, your group will have an opportunity to change into dry clothes, and head to our favorite local spot to enjoy a complimentary mimosa with your photographer. While enjoying a mimosa, your photographer will show you your photos on an iPad, and you can pick your favorites to be edited. We recommend choosing one group shot, and one portrait per mermaid. If you aren’t able to pick just one photo each, additional editing is available at a rate of $10/photo and can be added anytime during or after your mermaid experience.
At this point your photographer will say goodbye, and head to the editing room to prepare your online gallery and edited photos. Your online gallery will be delivered via email by 8pm the same day. Additional edits may take more time to be completed.

How much does it cost?
This half day, luxury experience is $750 for up to eight participants. For groups larger than eight please email catalinaislandmermaids@gmail.com.
Can I bring someone who isn’t 21+?
Of course! We have tails available in every size, as well as kids sizing, and your mer-mosa can be a mock-tail if you wish! Families are welcome, and it can make for really unique family photos or holiday cards.
What do you mean by “edited photos”?
Our team of photo editors can enhance your photos, making the colors pop, and the background more dramatic and tropical. They can remove unwanted background beachgoers, and more. They can retouch skin removing unwanted wrinkles, acne, scars, etc. Our photo editors, however, do not edit bodies. We encourage body positivity in every photoshoot, and we know mermaids come in all sizes!
What is your cancelation policy?
Cancelations made more than 24 hours prior to the start time will be given a full refund or credit. Cancelations, for any reason, within 24 hours will be allowed to reschedule with a $100 rebooking fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your session, and do not call, you will be considered a “no show, no call”. All “no show, no call” cancelations are not eligible for a refund for any reason. Rescheduling may be a possibility at the discretion of the owner.
What if I have more than 8 people in my group, or less than 8?
For groups larger than 8, send us an email at catalinaislandmermaids@gmail.com to coordinate. We can often accommodate larger groups by hiring multiple photographers and creating a custom package for your group. For couples, or solo mermaids please book the Mermaid Photoshoot on the Beach.
